Introduction: Whether you are looking for excellent
birding or just a place to relax amongst nature, the modest Talari
Mountain Lodge in south central Costa Rica is a great destination.
Indeed, nature and a peaceful environment are the major themes
of the lodge. Its 20 acres combine wonderful gardens, flowering
trees, a private primary forest, and a bordering rushing river
which all together invite a host of birds. An early morning bird
walk in the gardens may well be one of the highlights of your
trip with birds seemingly everywhere. Its location is ideal for
those visiting the Savegre area to the north and to those traveling
to points further south as well. Excellent meals and the friendly
hosts of the lodge will only add to your experience during your
stay.
Location: Talari Mountain Lodge is located
approximately 7 km east of San Isidro del General at the base
of the Talamanca Mountains in the Pacific south-central region
of Costa Rica. It is approximately 45 minutes inland from Dominical,
1 ½ hours from the Savegre area, and a little over 3 hours from
the San Jose Airport. CRG will provide you with exact directions
to the lodge if you are planning on renting a car and driving
during your visit.
Accommodations: Talari Mountain Lodge has nine
rooms, each with a terrace with a garden view, small fridge, fan,
and a private bathroom with a solar powered water heater. Some
rooms can accommodate up to four people. Meals are served in the
dining hall located a short walk above the cabins. The kitchen
staff takes great pride in preparing delicious meals for their
guests and can more than accommodate vegetarians if given sufficient
notice. A delightful and well-maintained swimming pool is a great
escape during the heat of the day.
Climate: Located at the base of the Talamanca
Mountains on the Pacific slope you can expect comfortable temperatures
in the early morning and late afternoon, warm and humid temperatures
in the middle of the day with comfortable sleeping conditions
at night. There is less rainfall from December through April in
this region.
